- As of 2024, our department name has been officially changed from Global Studies and
Maritime Affairs to International Strategy and Security to encompass strategy and
security in all forms. Entering students from Fall 2024 onward will receive a degree
in International Strategy and Security.

- Our program combines political science, international relations, strategic studies,
and regional area studies to offer an interdisciplinary major that prepares students
for diverse careers in security—including national, international, human, environmental,
and energy security—all while emphasizing California’s vital maritime industry and
strategic location.
